After unveiling the phone on August 2,Samsung has finally launched the new Note 7 in India yesterday. The Note 7 has been priced at INR 59,900 and will be available from September 2 which is INR 11,000 more than the launch price of Galaxy S7 and INR 3,000 more than that of Galaxy S7 Edge.It will be available in Gold Platinum,Silver Titanium and Black Onyx color variants. Unfortunately the Blue Coral which was released in other regions won’t be available here.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 7 released in India will be a Dual SIM one which features a hybrid dual SIM slot that can take a micro SD Card(upto 256GB) instead of a second SIM.
Pre-bookings start from August 22 and last till August 30 with company stating that there will be limited units during this period. So if you are planning to buy one be sure to pre-book soon. Samsung has delayed the release of it’s new Note in Netherlands,Russia,Ukraine and Malaysia by more than a week or so owing to the huge demand. We hope Samsung does not do the same in India.
As a pre-booking offer(till August 30),users can get new Gear VR at discounted price of just INR 1,990 which otherwise if bought separately will cost INR 7,290. The company has also launched the Gear IconX for INR 13,490 and Gear Fit 2 for INR 13,990.
Just to refresh your memory, the Note 7 features a iris scanner,a first in Samsung phones,a dual edge 5.7 inch QHD(1440×2560 pixels) Super AMOLED Display, improved S Pen functionality. The phone is protected and finished with a Corning Gorilla Glass 5 which the toughest glass available now in mobile industry. It also sports a USB Type-C which again is a first for Samsung. The phablet is IP68 certified for dust and water resistant, just like the S7 and S7 Edge released earlier this year which makes the phone usable in rain, shower or pool. The S Pen too is IP68 certified so you can take notes underwater too if you are that crazy.
The Note 7 runs on Android Marshmallow 6.0.1 with Samsung’s Grace UI skin atop. The unit launched in India is powered by a Samsung Exynos 8890 Octa coupled with 4GB of RAM.
As for photography, the Note 7 sports a 12 megapixel camera with Dual Pixel Technology for better low-light photography,Phase Detection Autofocus(PDAF),Optical Image Stabilization(OIS) and dual-LED flash. The front camera is a 5 megapixel shooter.
The phablet comes with an inbuilt storage of 64GB which as already mentioned can be extended upto 256GB. It comes with 3500mAh battery which is 100mAh less than S7 Edge but thanks to Samsung’s software optimization,we may see better battery life than S7 Edge. Samsung claims it supports fast charging on both wired and wireless chargers.
The improved S Pen features on the Galaxy Note 7 that Samsung is touting include the ability to create GIF image animations from videos using the Smart Select feature, apart from new Air Command functions for magnify and translate. The S Pen now also has a smaller tip than the previous iteration, and Samsung is touting improved pressure sensitivity.
